His primary legislative and policy responsibilities arise from his role as chairman of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.  This position offers him the opportunity to shape the future of America's infrastructure and transportation systems, something we here in Larimer County are eager to hear more about. An avid cyclist, Oberstar has been a champion of creating trails for cycling and hiking to promote healthy living and more active lifestyles.  Representative Oberstar is also a strong supporter of the Head Start program; he considers this program one of most successful federal anti-poverty programs ever created.
